One person was killed and nine others were injured after an armed man opened fire at a chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sunday, September 28, 2025. The attack, which took place during Sunday services, also involved a fire that heavily damaged the building.
According to the Grand Blanc Township police, the incident began when a male suspect, described as being approximately 40 years old, drove a vehicle into the church building. A witness reported that the man then exited the car, began shooting, and set fire to the chapel.
Emergency services responded to the scene, where footage showed firefighters extinguishing the blaze and multiple emergency vehicles surrounding the property. Officials confirmed that children were among the injured, with some victims suffering serious injuries. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Authorities have reported that the shooter was safely neutralized and that there is no further danger to the public. They have asked people to avoid the area to allow for an ongoing investigation.
